Guided Walks to Explore Stockholm's Public Sculptures The Carl Eldh Studio Museums's popular guided walks to explore Stockholm’s public sculptures will be organized throughout the Summer season (until October). Discover Stockholm City, Vasastan, Norrmalm, Kungsholmen, Djurgården, Södermalm or Östermalm from an art historic perspective, getting to know both famous and less well known artworks. We will be looking at statues, monuments, fountains, ornamental facades and group sculptures ranging from 17th century to contemporary works. New this season is the sculpture walk in Östermalm and a walk for children (4 -10 years old) in Humlegården.

The sculpture was never retrieved but thanks to a generous donation from the foundation Leo Holmgrens minne a recast in bronze will soon adorn the garden. 2011-12-15 The Museum will reopen in 2013 The tunneling works for Norra länken, the long running north circular road project are still in progress underneath the Carl Eldh Studio Museum and the museum will be closed throughout 2012. The plan is to reopen in 2013 when it is safe for the relocated sculpture collection to be back on site. More information about this reopening will be presented here. Updates on the road works can be found on the Swedish Road Administration website, www.trafikverket.se/norralanken. 2011-10-01 The Carl Eldh Studio Museum member of network for Person Museums On February 11, 2011 more than 30 museum employees from all over Sweden gathered in Stockholm to discuss the need of a network for person museums (personmuseer). The initiative came from Stefan Bohman, Director of the Strindberg Museum, in cooperation with The Association of Swedish Museums (Riksförbundet Sveriges museer). The network will among other things work with joint marketing, exchange of experience and museum education. 2011-02-21 The Carl Eldh Studio Museum Declared a "Listed Building" The County Administrative Board in Stockholm has decided to add the Carl Eldh Studio Museum to the list of buildings of special architectural or historic interest. Kersti Lilja, senior curator of historic monuments at the County Administrative Board in Stockholm, describes the studio museum as “unique in its combination of art historical and architectural heritage”. This desicion means that the environment can not be altered and that the studio building, along with the garden, is preserved intact for the future. The museum foundation board is delighted with the County Administrative Board's decision and the chairman of the foundation Mats Hellström comments that "future generations are now given the opportunity to experience and understand a unique 20th century environment". 2010-01-18 The Carl Eldh Studio Museum Joins ArbetSam From 2010, the Carl Eldh Studio Museum is a member of the Working LIfe Museums' Co-operation Council - ArbetSam, a non- profit National organisation with the purpose of supporting and developping the cultural heritage of industrial society. The council, which was formed in 1998, currently (2009) has 385 member museums in Sweden, which makes ArbetSam Sweden's largest museum network. This much anticipated and needed renovation will concentrate on paintings and sculptures. Part of the donation will also be used to improve the museum's accessibility. 2009-11-25 Works of Art by Carl Eldh Exhibited at Riksidrottsmuseet Carl Eldh’s collected works contain several works of art relating to sport. Most famous among these are probably The Olympic Runners, unveiled at the time of the 25th anniversary of the Olympic Games that were held in Stockholm 1912. But Eldh also depicted a number of other sportsmen, an example of which is The Diver (1934) in Kalmar. Others can be found in a series of reliefs on the façade of Stadion, Stockholm. Riksidrottsmuseet now exhibits several sculptures by Eldh that relate to the theme of sport, on loan from the Carl Eldh Studio Museum.
